Make Hot Dogs and S’Mores Around the Campfire

One of the best memories of spending time at the campground with my family, is the classic hotdog roast around the campfire. At least once during every camping trip, we sat down together and roasted hotdogs over the fire, while critiquing each others roasting techniques. Obviously, you can’t have a good hotdog roast without marshmallows and s’mores, as well as a debate over whether burned marshmallows are the best marshmallows or should be tossed in the fire.

Bring Corn Hole for Family Games

Bringing plenty of outdoor camping games is a great way to make the most of your time together. Cornhole is the game of choice for my family because it was one my parents always brought along to the campground.

Go Fishing and Cook Up Your Catch of the Day

Both my grandma and mom are avid fishers, so whenever we go to the campground, so the fishing gear is a must. One of the most nostalgic memories for me is fishing out on the dock all day with Grandma and then coming back to the campsite to cook our catch of the day.

Spend an Evening Stargazing

One of the benefits of camping is you can see the night sky better than you could in the city or town, so you should take advantage of this by spending an evening stargazing. There are plenty of stargazing apps you can download on your phone to help you recognize the constellations overhead. Alternatively, you can buy books and constellations and do it the old-fashioned way, which is what my dad and I used to do.
